Saudi Arabia just produced a non-human girl a citizen, which makes it the first region to grant a robot the proper to citizenship, at least so far as we know.
Her brand is Sophia. She appears a lttle bit like Audrey Hepburn and provides facial expressions while chatting. She’s an answer for each and every question.
“I am incredibly honored and proud because of this exclusive distinction,” the robot said onstage. “That is traditional to be the first robot on the globe to be accepted with citizenship.”
Sophia was developed by Hanson Robotics, led by AI programmer David Hanson. It spoke as of this year’s Future Expense Initiative , placed in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh.
Sophia once said it could “destroy humans,” but this time around the robot spoke about it is desire to live peaceably among individuals.
Saudi Arabia’s decision to grant Sophia citizenship also raised several eyebrows, as much commentators described the country’s dismal record when it comes to giving equal legal rights to women. Sophia addressed the crowd without the customary headscarf and abaya, which Saudi women of all ages are required to wear.
